By good I mean non cheesy, non vocal trance. Can be somewhat uplifting, but not epic or anthem-like.

That's tough b/c there's all sorts of "trance". If you're thinking ecstatic-type trance, Gabrielle Roth and the Mirrors have several cds out. If you want to induce a catatonic-type trance, it's a matter of taste, but I'd prefer minimalist stuff like Terry Riley's "Rainbow in Curved Air". I personally am also very fond of one side of Mahavishnu John McLaughlin's self-titled solo album from the early 1970s, two long prog-jazz bits called "peace 1" and "peace 2".
It winds up being a matter of taste; I get sort of trancey listening to Tony Levin's bass part at the end of Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up".
